First of all I would like to apologise for the lack of blog posts in 2018. It turned out to be an exceptionally busy year, with lots of milestones for both THIS GIRL MAKES and myself. However, as the founding platform for the whole project, I feel it is really important that I keep this channel for communication active and open. I am currently preparing for the first ever exhibition for THIS GIRL MAKES, and have had the luxury of looking back over its development. I am pleased with the community we have brought together and the various dimensions the project has bridged; a particular highlight being the printing of THIS GIRL MAKES Volume 1.

Other highlights from 2018 are:

  • Delivering a workshop at the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, with help from Poppy Booth.
  • Working with Young Women’s Music Project to help build their new home at Makespace, Oxford.
  • Speaking at Messums Wiltshire in August 2018, and delivering a series of Little Makers Workshops once again.
  • Sharing the THIS GIRL MAKES project at the Oxford Brookes’ Enterprise Fair in October 2018.

Ironically a busy year means lots of backdated content that I am really hoping to publish on the blog soon. Hopefully you will all find this upcoming content interesting and inspiring, something that I hope THIS GIRL MAKES is always successful in providing. One of my resolutions for 2019 is to return back to regular blog posts, featuring a wider variety of craftspeople. I also hope to further my own craft (writing and making), which should help me share and sympathise with other people’s stories.

Time is already rushing by, but here are a few things to look forward to in 2019…
